Anne Ovalstone from the International Tortoise Association describes the state the tortoises were in when they were rescued

A man who admitted animal welfare charges involving 151 tortoises and other reptiles has been banned from owning and dealing in animals. 

Ian Crosby, 48, of Llantwit Major, Vale of Glamorgan, sold the animals in an internet business from his home.

			<description>Here is Little Foot, she was our first rescued tort not long after we opened the rescue centre. Her original owner was an old man who bought two torts from a pet shop. the shop gave the wrong advise and the other one died. This little girl was taken from the old man in the pub and then the second owner took her to the vets as she was at deaths door. The vet told them what care she required and he then decided that she should go to someone who knew what they was doing.

			<description><![CDATA[Here are 2 of my hermanns tucking into a piece of pumpkin, it is said to have natural worming properties. I feed them this a couple of weeks before they wind down for hibernation.
