Hey all, not been on for a while! hope you are all well!

I'm taking in a bearded dragon (yet another one!) who has no obvious heakth issues but wont feed

We have tried all the usual tricks and found he will only eat if he is sat on a rug and manages about 1 or 2 morio worms and occassionally a locust. He refuses everything else including veg and fruit.

He is big and healthy looking, has been wormed and is by no means dehydrated or female!

A bit of history- he was bought ...

Gecko With Poor Shed

Today we got a young leopard gecko in as a rescue. The poor little thing has been seen by the vet a couple of weeks ago, according to the date on the cream that was prescribed. His right arm looks like me may lose it as he hasn't shed properly, probably for quite a few previous sheds. His owner brought him in as they can't afford the vet bill to get the arm amputated. So if there is no improvement in the next few days it's another trip to the vets.

Sorry it's not a great pic.

I have had my Leo Gecko for about a month now. He/she is about 4 months old.

Since buying it a bigger tank 2 weeks ago it has gone off crickets so yesterday I got some mealies/waxies and baby locusts to try.

I fed it 2 wax worms today on feeder tongs and was so happy it ate them but now they are dead in the tank so I think it has regurgitated them

I am very worried about it not eating now and would welcome any advice.

Komodo Dragon's Bite Is "Weaker Than a House Cat's"

Carolyn Barry

for National Geographic News

April 18, 2008

The world's largest living lizard, the fearsome Komodo dragon, has a bite weaker than a house cat's, researchers say.

Though known for killing prey much larger than itself, the Komodo relies on its razor-sharp teeth, strong neck muscles, and "space frame" skull to subdue its prey, according to a new study.

Using computer models, researchers ...

We have taken her to the vet who told us that it is treatable, but will need to be surgically removed with post-op care required. No one in our department can provide this type of care at this time (I did express interest in caring for the Iguana personally, but I have absolutely no ...

He is a super Giant High Yellow Leopard Gecko. I have never seen a gecko so big! He is in fine health, his owners only gave him up as they was splitting from their partner. They also donated quite a bit of equipment to, which we was very grateful for.

I am sure they see it as a game as Slinky ( our monitor) was fed only last night and is currently having a ball chasing the 'lil crix. Remember monitors can easily become ...

Hi there,

I bought a timor monitor about a month ago and initially i had trouble getting him to eat. He didn't eat anything for the first two weeks that i had him and hes probably only had a few crickets since i've had him. I've also tried ground turkey with egg, pinkies, canned snails, wet dog food, and other pre packaged monitor diets. He has all the proper lighting, including UVB. His temperatures are right for his climate and i've covered all 4 walls of his cage to calm him down, but ...

Well Harriet went back to visit her new vet today. The verdict is after getting results back from the various tests is she has a form of Microsporidia which is a parasite more commonly associated with bees also humans. This parasite caused the inflammation (lump) which covered her eye. Luckily it is treatable but requires a special type of drug which is used to treat the problem in bees so have to wait till she gets it and she will post it out to me. She has to go back in 2 weeks time. There ...

The outcome is as follows: The vet wasn't happy with my previous vet who should have referred me sooner etc etc, she operated straight away to remove the lump and is sending it to be analyzed, swab also taken. Gave her 3 injections 1xantbiotic, 1x vitamins, ...

Questions for Bosc owners

I've always loved the look of bosc monitors, we had one at a local reptile rescue centre that I volunteered for and he was gorgeous (Although very aggressive) and I was just wondering how easy they are to 'tame' as youndsters and whether anybody has been bitten by a baby one (how painful was it and was it a deep cut?)

I've heard horror stories about adults being able to bite to the bone so I'd like to start with a baby and get him used to me.

Thanks

So you want an iguana? Are you begging your parents for an iguana? Due to an iguana's special needs, please consider long and hard before purchasing one, or any reptile for that matter.

Never buy an exotic pet before completely researching it and providing it with a proper enclosure and food - BEFORE - buying it and bringing it home. Never put a new pet in with any other pets you have. You risk giving all of your animals infections or diseases that a pet store animal may have unbeknownst ...

A Beginner's Guide in Choosing a Bearded Dragon Lizard

Bearded dragons are from the reptile family that may be excellent home pets. They are commonly docile although their appearance may appear otherwise. Sometimes they seem as if they even enjoy being handled and like to take baths or dips in the water. As they are awake during the day and asleep in the night, their owners can enjoy watching them. Many herpetologists recommend them as pets because of their tame disposition and size.

I have heard and read so many contradicting diets for the green iguana that i feel i should add this here.

I have 4 iguanas here at the centre, all with a different history. The only one that has had a healthy correct diet remains the healthiest. If you don't feed your iguana the correct diet it could end up like this...

Catagory of good food types

Food

Greens

(40-45%)

Collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, dandelion greens (with flowers), escarole, water cress.
