| A "troll" is a person who delights in creating havoc on the forums. S/he tries to start arguments and upset people. A classic troll is trying to spin conflicting information, is questioning in an insincere manner, is argumentative with a "my way or the highway" attitude, flaming discussion, insulting people, turning people against each other, harassing forum members, and/or ignoring warnings from forum moderators. A troll is also a person who posts outrageous messages to bait people into answering.
Well meaning defenders can create chaos by responding to trolls. The best response is to ignore it ('don't feed the trolls'), or to report a message to a moderator. Anyone fitting this description will receive no warning, but will be immediately removed from the forum. Members that visit only to participate in conflict threads may be designated as trolls and have their account temporarily or permanently suspended. |
