PostSubject: Worried   Sun Mar 01, 2009 7:51 pm

I have had my Leo Gecko for about a month now. He/she is about 4 months old.

Since buying it a bigger tank 2 weeks ago it has gone off crickets so yesterday I got some mealies/waxies and baby locusts to try.

I fed it 2 wax worms today on feeder tongs and was so happy it ate them but now they are dead in the tank so I think it has regurgitated them Sad

I am very worried about it not eating now and would welcome any advice. Sad

Update........

Waxies weren't quite dead and he has just eaten one again before I could get it out!

Maybe he regurgitated because he swallowed them whole or something I don't know.

try not to let him have to many waxies as they are nearly all fat

if you moved him he will take a while to settle back down

make sure your temps are ok should be around 90f at ground level
i have a heat mat on a stat under lino tiles as bottom heat is best for these guys
try locusts and mealworms they love them
is he poohing ok
what substrate are you useing

if you need help would sujest this site as it seems that not many people use this site dont know why

I am using paper towels as substrate.

The temp in the hot end is 90f with a under tank heat pad and an overhead heat lamp.

I have some baby locusts to try. He ate a waxie and a meal worm last night but this morning he has bought them back up and they are stuck together, dead in the tank so I have removed them.
He isn't pooing much but did have a normal one a couple of days ago. In the last week he has only had one waxie that he has managed to keep down.

Thanks for your reply

if he is regurgitating them all the time get him to a reptile vet as there must be a reason normally if they regurgitate there food its due to impaction or to cold(they need a warm floor to help them digest there food should be 90f at floor level) but as you have him on towels that may not be the reason
but a reptile vet would give him a good check over and posibly an x ray to check for impaction

try to get to a vet that knows about reptiles

He is eating mealies and keeping them down and looking more happy so for now I am giving the crickets a rest and seeing how he goes.

Hmm yea I also agree with the fact that wax worms are just a "treat" to be given once in a while. Its like human candy. Can't survive on it. Also, changing the habitat size will undoubtedly cause stress. So that is somewhat normal. Glad to know things are going good.
