Quarantine Empty
PostSubject: Quarantine   Quarantine EmptyTue Dec 25, 2007 7:11 pm

Whenever adding a new reptile to your collection, keep the animal well away from the rest of your herps for eight to twelve weeks to avoid any possible disease transmission from the newcomer. This should be done regardless of how healthy the new specimen seems. Once the animal has been checked by a vet and seems acclimated and feeding well, it may be integrated into the main collection.

Whilst in quarantine, it would be a great opportunity to check how well the exotic feeds...and also you can monitor movement and excretion etc...Anything strange spotted should immediately be checked out before contemplating letting them near your other herps.
