| Hiya love, just been browsing your web site and seen that you have bought some land for the caiman. That is fantastic news! Just wondered what your plans are as I can imagine it's going to be one hell of a job. But ain't Williamson County in Washington? That's quite some distance from Austin. | |

| Texas is strange. Williamson is in Washington County, but Taylor and Thrall (where the land is) is in Williamson County. And since I live just on the north side of Austin in a town called Round Rock, (also in Williamson County) it's only about 35 minutes away. It's a nice ride and there's no traffic, yet. (Small town, still. For now!)
Plans are up in the air. I go and stand at the edge and look at it and then go home and draw and then go back a few days later, look at it, go home and draw something different.
Right now my thinking is to dig a pond into the ground and coat the dirt so the water doesn't leak out all the quick and build either a cinder block or stick building around the pond to enclose it. I want to top it with greenhouse plastic or a few manual sky lights and add a viewing area in the building, but outside the actual pond area, for guests, kids, education purposes, etc...
But like I said, it's all up in the air.
Speaking of up in the air, I wrote an email to that guy you recommended, Crocodile Joe, and asked permission to put a link to his site on my Links page and he sent me back an email with permission.

I am very interested to see this all develope, getting the land is a great opportunity. Couldn't you get some of the firefighters to give you a helping hand it getting holes dug, brick walls built etc? Or maybe get some publicity and local groups to give you a helping hand? Have you any idea on costings yet? Do you guys in the US have to go through strict regulations to build such things, like we do? what about security? Sorry for all the questions but like I say, I am very interested. I am so excited for you but also realise it can very very frustrating drawing the plans, then having a rethink etc. and drawing more. I am sure that you will acheive your goals. Glad you exchanged links with Joe.. he's a great guy!

| As it develops I will be posting pictures here and on my site, for sure. So youse will all get to see the progress (or lack of it!) When the time comes and I decide what I want to do, I am sure I can get friends and other firefighters to help. The worst part is the money. Once I have money for the equipment, the labor will be a breeze.
My partner will be in town in about two weeks, so we'll go over the likely costs and go from there.
Inside city limits there are building regs and exotic laws. Out in the country it's still country! This is Texas, after all. And eventually, I plan on hooking up a few camera feeds direct to the web site, so anyone wanting to watch can click a link and be taken there through the magic of the intrawebs.
What should be kewl about that, is that I will post the days that I'll be there feeding or doing maintenance or doing a kids class and that way other people around the world (?) would be able to sit in on the conservation classes or watch 9 hungry crocs feeding or attacking us as we try to clean their filters.
Like I said...I got lots of ideas.....it's really only the money. And I think that once I get it all up and running the way I want it I won't have to worry about money, as much. I'll be able to request donations and such, and have a place that people can see what their money is going to.
Anyway.......Thanks for the support. And I'll keep youse well informed!
