My torts have a uv lamp on all morning & i turn it off in aft .

On average my reptile have about 6 - 8 hours, though some reptile sites etc claim 10-12 hours is ideal. affraid

to be honest I've always run my uv's on a 12hour cycle with no ill effects (touch wood). Though I use Reptiglo 5% in most of my vivs. I did get a 10% one for my rescue waterdragon though as she was showing some signs of mbd.....
Makes me think though......
I have cared for a few yellow bellied terrapins who have held their eyes closed but assumed it was stress from bolder tank mates. On seperation they seem to recover but now I wonder if it was uv related?
